On Monday, December 8th, Allie was sick as a dog. She’d gone to bed at 48, but I gave her 2 starbursts & 1 piece of bread.

She woke up at something like 340. I corrected it & went to work. Tassie called me and said that Allie was sick and she was getting her fron school.

She spent the entire day throwing up anything she ate and her ketones skyrocketed. Nothing we did (which was everything that’s worked in the past) had any effect. Finally, around 10:00pm, we called the diabetes doctor on call. She sent us to the ER.

Lots of testes later, it was determined that Allie had Strep Throat. She’d not complained about anything that would have led us to believe that, so we did not treat it before.

Anyways, lots of IV fluids, an antibiotic shot, and lots of rest later, she was finally able to get rid of ketones, lower her blood sugar, and eat something (and keep it down!!).

Allie was admitted to the ER at 12:03am. Tassie brought it to my attention that it was exaclty 6 years ago that day that Allie was diagnosed, 12/9/2002.

Scary!
