I was in my office at the house when I heard a loud bang immediately followed by a blood-curdling scream from Allie. It wasn’t one of those where she pauses to decide if she should cry or not, it was split-seconds later.

I ran from the office and find her in the hallway holding her forehead. I ask her what happened and she explained that she hit her head on the corner of the wall. I have her move her hand, and blood starts gushing from the 1 1/2 cut that goes down to the bone.

This was the moment I’ve been dreading as a parent, a serious injury at home.

Tassie had just left to take Torrie & Lizard to the dentist so I yelled to Jon to call her and tell her to come home as it’s an emergency. She initially thought he was joking, but could hear me in the background yelling.

We took her to the ER where she ended up getting 7 stitches. It was very traumatic, for her and for me. I don’t deal with stuff like that very well, and to see them cleaning out a cut to the bone was awful.

I hope to never have to go through that again!
